The build price is only the first line of the budget. A pool is kept for years, sometimes decades, and its annual maintenance cost depends directly on the type of structure chosen at construction.
Water treatment
Chlorine, bromine, or salt electrolysis: whichever method, Morocco's climate requires more frequent monitoring than elsewhere, since evaporation concentrates the remaining chemicals. This is a recurring cost item, identical for a concrete or a fiberglass pool, as long as the water volume is comparable.
Filtration electricity
The filtration pump runs several hours a day in season. This is a fixed cost, tied to the pool's volume and the installed pump's power, not to the shell material.
What actually changes: maintaining the structure
This is where the gap widens. A tiled concrete pool needs regular grout maintenance and, eventually, retiling or re-waterproofing, costs that don't exist on a fiberglass shell, whose smooth gelcoat surface has no grout lines or corners where limescale can build up. Over time, it's often this cost item, not water treatment, that makes the budget difference between the two techniques.
